Why the Mirpur Sarafa rate is different
- Local rates follow the world price, but not exactly. Gold in Pakistan also moves with the rupee, import costs and local demand, so the Sarafa rate per tola can be a little above or below this reference. The gap can be bigger for silver than for gold.
- Each jeweller sets its own selling rate for the day, and rates for 22K, 21K and 18K are usually worked out from the 24K rate. Ask the shop which rate it is using.
